REVIEWS
“Sudden Love is an elegant highly personal romantic drama, which deals with the differences in attitudes of men and women in love. Betty Livanou is especially impressive.” Kevin Thomas, LOS ANGELES TIMES “In a poetic flight like a fugue toward the impossible, toward the dream of the absolute and of love. Sudden Love is an important film.” Maria Papadopoulou, TA NEA “In this quiet and sensitive film, there is something tragic in the face of this woman who struggles to save the Dream from the routine of everyday life.” G.Chryssovitsanos, ETHNOS “They break their boundaries and they meet in Portugal. The woman wants to break more boundaries; she wants to flee with him over the Atlantic, away from Europe. The scenes where she is staring at the ocean with a strong desire to go past it are magnificent.” Lefteris Kypreos, ELEFTHEROS TYPOS “This film speaks discretely inside each one of us. In its silent moments it tells a lot more than words can express.” I.Papakostas, ELEFTHEROS TYPOS “When their eyes meet, when their close-ups meet, a mystical and overpowering bond is created.” G.Bakogiannopoulos, KATHIMERINI "Having a gentle understanding for the man who didn’t dare, and showing his admiration for the woman who did dare, the director builds a great myth of love." Soula Alexandropoulou, ELEFTHEROTYPIA |
SYNOPSIS
Eleni is thirty-three, a would-be dancer who no longer dances, a woman no longer in love with her husband, leading an uneventful bourgeois life. Grigoris is a successful economist, a career man who has lived in Paris for so long that he feels nostalgia for Greece and his boyhood years there. When they meet, they feel a sudden love for each other, a love that thrills them and threatens their quiet lives. Their love takes them to Lisbon, and perhaps even further.
